Space Based Solar Power Inside 7 Years?
Friday, April 17th, 2009Wow! Space based solar power to become a reality by 2016? These guys certainly think so. A startup based in the USA has received substantial support from PG&E, the huge energy firm in the US.
The Solaren Corp has publically stated that the technology is “largely proven” and propose the transmission of large amounts of energy using radio waves. Apparently the energy can be “readily converted”.
Pretty crazy stuff.
I’ve always thought the best way forward was to go local. An energy generation plan for every village. Even down to individual homes. That eliminates the transmission loss to a large extent.
But this company are at the other end of the spectrum completely! Talk about ambitious plans!
